What Motivates You?


This handsketch was a class assignment that I completed the day before my father passed away. This was the last of my drawings that he saw. While I was staying up late to work on this, he looked over my shoulder and told me that of all my drawings, this was his favorite one. Those words were and are motivation.

What motivates you? This rhetorical question has caused me to step back, reassess and move forward on alot of things. For this blog, I want to focus on the above image. It started out as an assignment on two-point perspectives in a sketching class. However, as I kept drawing, I was beginning to zone into the sketch. I begin to envision myself looking at the skyscrapers. As I was doing this, my father was sitting on the couch watching an NBA game. It was late, maybe 11:30 pm, and I was still up drawing. My dad looked over where I was and asked "How's long do you need to stay up Amman?" I told him about another hour. He looked in bewilderment. "I can't believe they make you guys do all this work!"
